Cheorwon Hyanggyo

Cheorwon Hyanggyo was built in the early Joseon period at its current location in Wolha-ri, Cheorwon-eup, Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon State, and remained in existence until the Korean War, serving as a center of spiritual and cultural life in the Cheorwon region. Cheorwon Hyanggyo consists of the outer gate, Seojae (西齋), Dongjae (東齋), inner gate, Myeongnyundang, Daeseongjeon, management office, and a stele commemorating the shrine. The buildings of Cheorwon Hyanggyo include Daeseongjeon, which has three bays at the front and one bay at the side, with a three-door gate at the front, and Myeongnyundang, which has four bays at the front and three bays at the side, next to Daeseongjeon. In front of Myeongnyundang, Dongjae is located to the east and Seojae to the west. A signboard for the Cheorwon Branch of the Confucian Association (儒道會鐵原支部) is currently hung on Dongjae.
