Why travelers stop here
Pyeongchang Bongsan Seojae is home to portraits of Yulgok Yi I and Hwaseo Yi Hang-ro. Located on the eastern foothills of Pyeongchon-ri, beside the national road at the entrance to Bongpyeong town, Bongsan Seojae is a shrine built to pass down and commemorate the fact that Yi Wonsu, the father of Yulgok Yi I, lived here for 18 years (1526–1543) during the reign of King Jungjong of Joseon while serving as a government official as a water transport inspector, and that Saimdang Shin conceived Yulgok here.
