Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

The Korea Camera Museum is a private camera museum founded by photographer and businessman Kim Jong-se. The exhibition hall consists of a special exhibition hall, a main exhibition hall, and an auxiliary exhibition hall. It houses over 3,000 cameras, more than 6,000 lenses, and a total of over 15,000 artifacts including glass plate films, early magic lanterns, photo printing equipment, and various accessories. Among the artifacts are the camera obscura and camera lucida, the precursors of the camera, as well as items from 1839 when the camera and daguerreotype photography were first invented in the world, and modern cutting-edge cameras that have contributed to the development of camera history. A distinctive feature is that the exhibition space is arranged so that the interiors of most displayed cameras can be viewed. As a private camera museum, it ranks among the top five in the world in terms of size and variety of exhibits.
