The King Danjong History Hall, where visitors can view historical sites and personal artifacts related to King Danjong at a glance, opened on April 5, 2002, within the grounds of Jangneung in Yeongheung 12-ri, Yeongwol-eup. The hall was planned based on an awareness and renewed understanding of the need to correct the forgotten and distorted history of King Danjong and to make it widely known. It serves as an educational venue where local residents and visitors from across the country can learn about King Danjong and the excellence of the region.
Displayed by theme on the first floor and basement level 1 are the Annals of King Sejong, the Annals of King Munjong, the Annals of King Danjong, and the Annals of King Sejo; the daegwanbok and official robes, court attire from the Joseon period, and inner court attire; records concerning King Danjong’s appointment as crown prince and his enthronement; records of the process of King Danjong’s death; various books related to "The Tragic History of Danjong," a book describing King Danjong’s death; graphic panels depicting King Danjong’s life; memorial tablets honoring the loyalty of the Saengyuksin and Sayuksin; Joseon-period instruments of torture, including shackles, the sinjang, tae, jang, and chakgo; types of punishment, including flogging, beating with a rod, exile, and execution; the royal seals of King Danjong and Queen Jeongsun; models of Joseon-period court attire, including jobok, yeongbok, and joryebok; video footage recreating King Danjong’s exile; a diorama of King Danjong’s exile procession; and artifacts of Queen Jeongsun, King Danjong’s queen consort, along with a diorama of Sareung (思陵), the queen’s royal tomb.
