Hwacheon Ecology Image Center

Opened in 2012, the Hwacheon Ecology Image Center is a nature-friendly experiential space that combines ecology and visual media. It consists of a Water Science Museum, an Ecological Science Museum, a Natural Ecology Hall, a Waterdrop Screening Room, a Video Studio, and a Water Park. It operates comprehensive visual media education programs designed to enhance visitors’ understanding of and interest in water and ecology through ecological exhibition spaces and video experience spaces. In addition, various types of equipment and systems required for video production are in place, allowing visitors to experience and create the actual video production process. Self-guided activities include light boxes, board games, and sand art. Reservation-based activities include chroma key video experiences, coloring with wood markers, light painting, ecological interpretation in the first-floor exhibition hall, traditional knotting, and bracelet making. Applications for both self-guided and reservation-based activities must be completed at least 7 days in advance, and the activities are available only when at least 10 people apply. There are also other activities that individuals can experience on the day of their visit. The center temporarily opens a water play area from late July to early August, making it a good place to visit and enjoy with children.
