Chuncheon Cultural Center

Chuncheon Cultural Center, located in Toegye-dong, Chuncheon, was founded in 1952 as a private cultural center and is a public-interest corporation established to carry out regional cultural projects. It organizes and hosts regional festival events such as the Soyanggang Cultural Festival and Uiamje. The Lifelong Learning Center offers a variety of cultural programs for adults, and on weekends it also operates cultural classes for elementary, middle, and high school students. The Uiam Exhibition Hall on the first floor holds exhibitions on a variety of themes, establishing itself as a cultural space where local residents can enjoy culture. The Uiam Exhibition Room is available for rental, so detailed inquiries can be made by phone or through the website. In addition, the Chuncheon Cultural Center website operates the Chuncheon Digital Archive, which contains Chuncheon's past and present and enables the sharing of all kinds of information about Chuncheon, including photographs, general documents, old newspapers, and e-books. The website also features the origins of place names and “Hello, Chuncheon,” presented in animation. In 2019, the Chuncheon Studies Research Institute, which conducts research on regional studies, was opened within the cultural center as the first of its kind in the country. It sheds new light on the history and culture of the Chuncheon area and collects materials related to Chuncheon's history, culture, and ecology.
