Arari Doll House

Arari Doll House is an organization established for the production, performance, exhibition, and education of puppet theater. Since settling in Najeon Branch School in Jeongseon, Gangwon-do, in 1998, it has engaged in local cultural activities, various puppet theater-related workshops, and performances of puppet plays such as [Kkokdugaksi Noreum] and [Jeongseon Arirang], as well as various other puppet theater performances. After remodeling Najeon Branch School and using it as a workshop and exhibition hall for various domestic and international performance puppets, it officially opened as a puppet theater museum. Jeongseon Arari Doll House exhibits performance puppets from Korea and various countries around the world that have been used in puppet theater, as well as posters, materials, and donated items related to international puppet festivals. Every July, it holds the Jeongseon Puppet Festival, offering various puppet theater performances, hands-on activities, and workshops. Arari dolls are traditional Korean wooden dolls with smiling faces, mainly made of wood and paper. At Arari Doll House, visitors can observe the process of making Arari dolls and participate in hands-on activities where they can make their own Arari dolls and learn traditional craft techniques. Arari Doll House consists of three main exhibition halls. Hall 1 introduces the history and origins of puppet theater, as well as its types and characteristics. Hall 2 displays performance puppets used in Korea and abroad. Hall 3 introduces puppet theater-related materials and the activities of Arari Doll House. At Arari Doll House, visitors can see not only dolls from Korea and other countries but also dolls that have been widely loved around the world, making it a place where families with children can create wonderful memories.
