Jeongseon Arirang Center (Jeongseon Arirang Cultural Foundation)

The Arirang Center was established to pass down, preserve, and creatively carry on Jeongseon Arirang. It houses Korea’s only specialized Arirang performance venue and the Arirang Museum. The Arirang Museum contributes to the transmission and popularization of Arirang through activities including the exhibition, collection, investigation, research, and education of materials showcasing the history, present, and future of Arirang—a song of the world beyond being the folk song of 70 million Koreans, as well as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and an Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Korea. Exhibits include the meaning Arirang holds for us; the history of Arirang; the history of Jeongseon Arirang; Arirang deeply woven into our lives, which visitors can hear directly as performed by renowned singers from different regions; and materials on Arirang around the world, which has shared in the painful history of the people dispersed across the globe.
