Gaemideul Village

Gaemideul Village is a village through which Jijahcheon (Dongnamcheon) Stream winds. The water is clear, and the mountain scenery is exceptionally beautiful. The villagers themselves resemble nature. The village name Nakdong-ri comes from “Yeomindongnak (與民同樂),” meaning that the villagers helped one another and lived together. The other name, Gaemideul, means that the villagers are as diligent as ants. Even today, the villagers work together to farm using organic methods and provide children and families from cities with opportunities to experience rural life. Representative programs include rice cake craft experiences and bare-handed trout catching.

The rice cake craft experience involves adding food coloring to thoroughly steamed non-glutinous rice to make fun rice cakes. Various shapes, including flowers, butterflies, and carrots, are created according to the children’s imaginations. In the bare-handed trout-catching experience, participants catch trout with their bare hands in the village valley, then prepare and sample trout sashimi, fried trout, and other dishes themselves. There are also opportunities to experience seasonal farming, such as sowing and harvesting.
