Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Designated as a Tangible Cultural Heritage of Gangwon Province on January 17, 1985. It is approximately 200 years old, and descendants of the head family of the Gyeongju Yi clan currently live here. It is a typical Gangwon Province ondol-centered double-row vernacular house with a maru, and its floor plan is T-shaped. The foundation is made of large rectangular stones, with pillars set on natural stone foundation stones. The rafters are arranged radially, and the house has a three-rafter structure beneath a single-eave roof. The main building is a double-row house with four bays across the front, two bays along the side, and a hipped-and-gabled roof with double purlins. Three rooms are arranged on the left and a kitchen on the right.

To the front right of the main building is a one-bay cattle shed, while the rear has one room and one storage space. The upper part of the cattle shed connecting the main building and the kitchen was made into a storage area. The kitchen cannot be accessed from the room connected to it; it can only be entered from outside.
