Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Chodo Village is a small fishing village located at the northernmost point of the Republic of Korea. The island of Geumgudo lies offshore, while Hwajinpo Beach and the Hwajinpo Marine Museum are situated at the edge of the village, giving it beautiful coastal scenery. Geumgudo has historical significance due to the legend of King Gwanggaeto’s tomb and the remains of a fortress, and the waters around the island are home to fishing grounds for sea fishing and seaweed such as wakame and kelp. In particular, as the largest sea urchin-producing area on the east coast, it is gaining attention as a family-friendly fishing village experience destination. At the Chodo Port Fresh Fish Sashimi Center, as well as at regular sashimi restaurants and other restaurants, visitors can enjoy freshly caught seafood and seaweed.
