Why travelers stop here
Achimgari refers to a village in Jindong-ri, Girin-myeon, Inje-gun. It is one of the Samdun Sagari mountain villages located at the foot of Bangtaesan Mountain in Inje. Because it is situated in a remote area deep among layers of mountains, it was given the name Achimgari, meaning that sunlight shines for only as long as it takes to briefly plow a field in the morning before quickly disappearing. Achimgari Valley is known as a year-round trekking course because of its cool, clear water and primeval forest stretching along the valley. Achimgari trekking involves walking uphill for quite a while along the path from Bangdong Mineral Spring to Achimgari, then trekking downhill along the valley trail. There is no set path for this course, so you can walk along the valley or in the shade of the forest.
