Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Misan Valley, referring to the 10-kilometer stretch of waterway around Misan-ri, Sangnam-myeon, Inje-gun, in the upper reaches of the Naerincheon River, is a remote area with exceptionally beautiful mountain scenery and clear water, just as its name (美山, meaning “beautiful mountain”) suggests. Although it is a narrow gorge surrounded by steep mountains, the confluence where the Naerincheon River flowing down from Yuljeon, Hongcheon-gun, meets the Bangnaecheon Stream is the widest area within Misan Valley. Sandbanks and gravel beds have formed there, making it suitable for pitching tents. As it is also a confluence where waterways meet, it is rich in fish and especially popular with people who enjoy fishing or catching fish by hand. Accordingly, Misan Valley is well suited for families to enjoy water activities while spending their summer holidays catching fish.
