Geojin 1-ri Beach

A quiet beach located north of Geojin Port, it forms a scenic landscape with Baekseom Island offshore and the unusual rock formations in the surrounding area. Since opening on July 10, 1988, it has operated temporarily each year with the cooperation of military units. Baekseom is a small, uninhabited island near the shore at Geojin 1-ri Beach. It was given the name Baekseom because it appears white due to seagull droppings. An approximately 100-meter-long marine deck has been built to connect the shore and Baekseom. The beach has a 150-meter gravel shore, and the abundant seafood in the seawater provides activities to enjoy along with a summer vacation, making it a popular destination for families. Unlike other beaches, this beach is composed of gravel and rocks rather than sand, so visitors should take care for their safety when swimming in the sea. At nearby Geojin Port, visitors can enjoy fresh sliced raw fish. The breakwater at Geojin Port and Baekseom are popular sea-fishing spots where fish such as sea bream, flounder, greenling, mullet, and 황어 are mainly caught.
