Why travelers stop here
Suhang Valley was formed by the Odaecheon River, which originates at Utongsu on Odaesan Mountain and flows approximately 30 km toward Jeongseon. Free of pollution, the valley features beautiful rocky scenery, with bizarre rock formations and dense forests creating a panoramic landscape. Suhang Valley is where Makdong Valley, famous for its three-tiered waterfall, and Jangjeon and Singi valleys, which originate from Gariwangsan Mountain, converge. It is known for its clear water and is ideal for summer vacations. In spring, water azaleas and other vegetation beautifully decorate the banks, while the autumn foliage reaches its peak. The valley road is so winding that it is described as having nine-fold twists and turns, with many sections where the road runs straight before turning at a right angle or winding around almost like a U-turn. Rafting is available in the valley, and the auto campground located around the middle of the valley has pine and fir forests and provides ample space, making it suitable for camping by families as well as large groups.
