Yeosongjeong

About 30 minutes by car from Jeongseon-eup, at Auraji stands Yeosongjeong, a pavilion-style structure. Surrounded by pine trees, Yeosongjeong features a statue of the Auraji maiden. It is said that Jeongseon County erected the statue to commemorate the “Love Song” section of Jeongseon Arirang. A statue of the bachelor who shared a poignant love with the Auraji maiden stands across the river near the Jeongseon Arirang Transmission Center, facing Yeosongjeong. It is said that the pavilion was named Yeosongjeong after the names of the two villages, Songcheon and Yeoryang, in order to tell the poignant love story of the maiden from Songcheon and the bachelor from Yeoryang, associated with the banks of the Auraji River. Local residents raised donations to build Yeosongjeong. Visitors can also enjoy the scenery while strolling along the old-road walking trail created next to Yeosongjeong.
