Address: 208 Paroho-ro, Gandong-myeon, Hwacheon-gun, Gangwon State
Paroho Observatory offers a panoramic view of the picturesque scenery of Lake Paro. It was jointly built by the Army Chilseong Unit, Korea Electric Power Corporation, and Hwacheon-gun to honor the brave soldiers of the Korean Armed Forces during the Korean War. The observatory is located on a small hill above the Paroho Security Exhibition Hall. Follow the path through the dense vegetation and walk uphill for a short distance to reach the observatory. Although the path is slightly sloped, the hill is not very high, so it can be climbed quickly. Lake Paro can be seen below from the observatory railing, and the observatory has a pavilion and benches. In front of the observatory, there is also a monument inscribed with the following: “This Paroho Observatory was built as a joint project by the Army Chilseong Unit, Korea Electric Power Corporation, and Hwacheon-gun to commemorate the brilliant feat of our brave armed forces, who sent three Chinese Communist armies to a watery grave and defended the homeland and freedom during the Korean War, and to pass it down to future generations forever.”
