Gonghyeonjin Port

Gonghyeonjin Port is a fishing port located in Gonghyeonjin-ri, Jukwang-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province. It was designated as a national fishing port on January 1, 1999. Gonghyeonjin Port has excellent locational conditions, as it is home to Gonghyeonjin Beach, which features fine sand and shallow waters. In addition to basic facilities such as two breakwaters, a cargo handling quay, a shore protection structure, and access roads, Gonghyeonjin Port has also completed facilities including a parking lot, nighttime lighting, and breakwater safety installations. Most of the fishing boats at Gonghyeonjin Port are small vessels weighing 1–5 tons. They catch fish used for sashimi, such as flounder, rockfish, olive flounder, and greenling, in nearby waters, or offer boat-fishing experiences for tourists. In the shallow waters nearby or within the port, female divers can also occasionally be seen diving to gather sea urchins, sea cucumbers, abalone, and seaweed.
