Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

This is a shrine enshrining the mortuary tablets of the brothers Gwon Gyeong-u and Gwon Gyeong-yu, civil officials of the early Joseon Dynasty who were victimized during the Muo Sahwa (Literati Purge of 1498). Prince Uichin (Yi Kang) personally wrote and bestowed the hanging board in his own handwriting. The shrine was reconstructed in 1926, and the Sinmun (Spirit Gate) was repaired in 1976, continuing to the present day. The buildings within the grounds include the Sau (Shrine), Sinmun, Dongseo Hyeopmun (East and West Side Gates), and a lecture hall.
