Stepping on Gyodong Island, Where the Joys and Sorrows of Ganghwa Island Reside

The history of Gyodong Island is quite old. From the Goguryeo period through the Silla period, it had the reclaimed coastline of neighboring Ganghwa Island and Seokmo Island, becoming today's Gyodong Island. Although its scale is not very large, it is the first hyanggyo (Confucian school) in Korea to enshrine Confucius, so Confucian scholars visit every year to hold rituals.
