Walking the Tragic History of Ganghwado Island

The path from Chojijin, which you encounter after crossing the Chojidaegyo Bridge, through Deokjinjin and Gwangseongbo to Gapgotdondae, was the site of fierce battles during the Byeonginyangyo and Shinmiyangyo foreign invasions in the late Joseon Dynasty. At Chojijin, a pine tree still bears the scars of cannonballs from that time.
